Description: The Tamaskan Wolfdog is a large athletic dog. The males are strong and powerful in appearance but the females are feminine without weakness or loss of power in appearance and both will have a feral like appearance with thick coarse fur and small ears with a straight, sickle like bushy tail. The length of the body should be approximately longer from point of shoulder to the rear point of pelvis than the height of the body measured from the ground to top of the withers. The Tamaskan is a Friendly and affectionate dog, should not appear weak in spirit or aggressive towards and has an high intelligence with an eagerness to please. The Tamaskan Wolfdog is a very versatile companion as well as a working dog.

Colors: Grey, Silver Grey, Dark Black/Grey to Red/Grey with a Black overlay as a wolf characteristic. Blue eyes and markings are similar to the Siberian or Alaskan Malamute.

Coat: Straight, harsh and close with a soft thick undercoat that forms over the body. The neck shows an appearance of having more coat and ruff that frames the head.

Temperament: Friendly, Loving and Affectionate Dogs that makes a good companion as well as a working dog. The Tamaskan are very intelligent and can be somewhat stubborn.

With Children: Yes

With Pets: Yes. The Tamaskans are pack dogs and are better suited to have the company of another dog, or dogs unless you give them your full attention.

Care and Training: Careful and Gentle persuasion and lots of play rewards.

Learning Rate: High. The Tamaskan Wolfdog is very eager to learn.

History: Originating from imported USA sled type dogs and mixed with Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute and German Shepherd, they then were exported to Finland where more recently other feral looking sled type dogs have been added to improve the Tamaskan Wolfdog. The purpose was to create a dog that looks like a feral in appearance with working ability.
