Growing up my family always had a sheltie on the farm. Years later after I
got married and moved away from home I was given a beautiful sable and white
female and was bitten by the sheltie bug again. She was spayed and she was so
nice I had a hard time finding a good breeder. I decided I would be that good
breeder. I finally find a sable and white male and was lucky enough to find a
female with similar pedigrees. I still have the grand daughter of Candy my
original female.
I live 60 miles west of Des Moines on 3 acres. My dogs are subjected to all kinds of sounds and a variety of animals. Puppies are well socialized with not only people but the older dogs. They get to go for car rides on a regular bases. I offer a 72 hour health guarantee and 2 years on genetics. Puppies are sold on limited registration with a spay/neuter contract. I do occasionally get show/breeding prospects available also. Puppies are current on shots and worming and dew claws have been removed. I also offer a lifetime of support and you can visit me anytime. My door I always open.
I ship puppies at buyers expense within the continental US, Alaska and Canada.
The temperament of the sheltie is what has endeared him to so many owners.
They are usually loyal and affectionate with their owners.
Shelties are known to be easy to train, and
this is often due to their desire and willingness to please. Shelties almost
seem to train themselves at times. They are ever willing to do your every wish
and ecstatic at the praise they receive. Shelties are relatively sensitive, and
do not need a hard hand when training. They are not soft, though, and will stand
up to criticism. A sheltie with the classic temperament is a bit standoffish
with strangers, but not unfriendly. There is a much wider range in temperament
in modern shelties than there used to be, and personalities will range from
quiet, stay-at-home dogs, to active extroverts. Unfortunately, due to their
popularity, more shelties are being bred in puppy mills and by inexperienced,
unknowledgeable breeders. These dogs often have very poor temperaments, with
characteristics such as fear-biting, excessive shyness, nervousness, or extreme
hyperness. Do your sheltie a favor, and have him or her altered.
