We
live on a small farm in Southwest Missouri. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a natural
dog to have around livestock. Although it is not known exactly what their descendants
are, they have been used in Wales as herding dogs, companions and guardians of the
farm for generations. Although, originally developed as herding dogs and listed
as a herding dog in the American Kennel Club grouping, they make excellent family
dogs, companion dogs or competition
dogs in obedience and agility.
It is very common to see the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, (commonly referred to as just "Corgi"), with an equestrian companion at a horse show or other competition. They are extremely loyal and naturally get along with other stock and pets. They make great traveling companions and are easy to take along on a weekend horse show.
Pembroke's are very easy to train and relish a good training session. Although they can excel at obedience, they love to cut up and play as well. They can be tireless at ball chasing and frisbee catching. Although their legs are very short, they can actually cover a lot of ground and are quite fast when they need to be.
They get along great with kids and other pets. However, my Corgis do love to
chase the kitties and watch them run up the trees. It has been my experience that
Corgis love other Corgis. They will spot another Corgi a mile away and seek them
out for fun and mischief.

The Pembroke will shed! You should be prepared to brush them 2 or 3 days a week, especially if you are going to keep them in the house. They are naturally active dogs and look for things to do, so they do need supervision. They seem to be a little notorious for chewing so they need to be crated or fenced when left alone.
All in all, there is not a happier, kinder or more fun loving dog then the Pembroke
Welsh Corgi. It is not uncommon for people to end up with 2 or 3 dogs at a time,
because they are so much fun and so easy to raise.
If you are interested in getting a puppy or young adult please contact us. All our pups come with a health guarantee and are registered with the American Kennel Club. We only have 2 breeding females and one male, so only have 2 litters a year. We are certain that you will be very satisfied with the temperament of Box S Pembroke's and their excellent conformation. Our only male, "Alex" is a Champion sired dog from the famous Larklain Kennel. We are available for the life of the puppy and encourage you to contact us if you cannot keep your puppy for any reason.
We love this breed and would love to help you get to know the Pembroke Welsh
Corgi and get one for your own! All puppies come with AKC registration and health
guarantees.
